Lecithin Dehydration / Drying
LCI pioneered both the development of thin-film evaporation and its application to the drying of lecithin. Lecithin is heat-sensitive, viscous, and hygroscopic. Effective heat and mass transfer must be achieved without heat degradation. An LCI / Luwa dryer's short residence time and turbulent film provide just the right conditions for gently drying lecithin to low moisture levels while preserving good color. In fact, the LCI process has been used to maintain the lightest possible color, producing higher profits for lecithin products.
LCI can provide evaporators in several design types, including Turba-Film®, historical “Luwa” vertical designs, and horizontal designs incorporating residence time adjustment control.
In addition to the right technology, the LCI team has experience installed system experience from 120+ evaporators in lecithin drying worldwide.
