Engineered Systems

LCI can engineer and provide complete granulation systems which take your product from powder to pellet or sphere, ready for packaging or further processing.

These systems are based on the broadest range of extrusion methods available. This flexibility of choice allows our clients to more closely produce the exact granule properties they require.

The process begins with wetting a dry blend at the proper ratio and mixing or kneading the mixture into a homogeneous mass suitable for extrusion. The moist material is extruded into cylindrical pellets of uniform diameter by specially designed extrusion blades or rollers, which push the material through perforated screens or dies. If spherical granules are desired, then a spheronization process follows. The pellets or spheres can then be fed into a dryer for moisture removal.
